Our kindergarten through 5th grade students were blessed by local author, Jolee Custer, today! In addition to being an author, Jolee is a kindergarten music teacher and certified Forest Therapist.
Today, Jolee read aloud "The Little Larch Who Learned He Was Magic". This was a sweet story about a little Larch named Lennon who lives among the mighty pine trees. The story is about acceptance, kindness, magical healing, forest bathing, self growth, and belonging.
After the reading, our students got to work together with Jolee to create two new story outlines where they got to come up with the characters, setting, problem, and solution. She is taking their vision and turning them into published books they helped create! How amazing is that?! Stay tuned for the opportunity to purchase your copy 🙌🏻
In the meantime, go check out her website at wildwoodmagic.org and give her instagram a follow at wildwood_magic_2026.
Her books are available for purchase on Amazon!
Thank you Jolee for taking time out of your spring break to come share the magic of reading and writing with our youngest learners!

The Dream, Build, Achieve Award for January was awarded to Garrett Rhodes in recognition of his dedicated work as the Technology Coordinator at Thorp Schools. We appreciate the important role he plays in keeping our technology running smoothly. He strengthens the Securly program to help keep our students safe. He carefully researches every piece of technology before making purchases. He helped us learn to use AI in useful ways. His teamwork on the safety committee, along with his willingness to serve as its chair, has made the group stronger and more effective. Garrett always places the safety of students and staff first and encourages others to do the same. As a small school district, we value his readiness to take on so many different technology needs. Most of all, we are grateful for his patience, kindness, and willingness to help others understand technology. We appreciate Garrett for all the ways he has strengthened our Thorp community.
