Welcome to the Counseling Corner!

A Letter from Mrs. Hoffman

Hello, Thorp Tigers and families!

I am excited to be returning for my second year as your school counselor and am looking forward to another fantastic year of working with each of you. I want to share a personal update: I was married on August 2nd, and my name has changed! Please feel free to now call me Mrs. Rachel Hoffman.

I am dedicated to supporting students and families and look forward to working with you! My primary goals are to ensure that every student feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Throughout the school year, I will be available for one-on-one counseling, group activities, classroom lessons, and school-wide programs. I also plan to have opportunities for parents and guardians to talk about how to help you grow and succeed. If you need more help, I can connect you with resources in the school and community to keep you and your family safe and successful.

Communication and working together with parents and guardians are important parts of my job. I encourage you to talk to me if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s well-being and progress. I know that growing and healing takes time, patience, and effort from everyone. Together, we can create a supportive environment that helps all students grow and succeed.

I hope you have a great school year!

Rachel Hoffman

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculums Used at Thorp Schools:

SEL is a critical part of a student's education. It is the process of teaching students how to manage emotions, build relationships, and make responsible choices. SEL is a core part of the curriculum, with lessons integrated into daily school life to help students succeed in school and in life. This approach is guided by standards from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), which you can learn more about on their official SEL webpage: https://ospi.k12.wa.us/student-success/resources-subject-area/social-emotional-learning-sel
